Stores inside Roanoke's Valley View Mall are cleaning up after Wednesday's flooding.
Funomenal Sports, a sports academy and training facility, is on the first floor of the building. They were closed Thursday to dry out the carpets and floors. When you see surveillance video, you know why. You can see employees running with trash cans to try and put them under the water falling from the ceiling. About twenty seconds later, you see the woman point up, both people jump backwards and the ceiling tiles come crashing down where they were standing. We're told at one point, water was coming through the walls.
We're told Funomenal Sports has been talking to its insurance company and some other stores and mall areas also had water issues.
As we reported Wednesday, the mall management said at one point water came inside from the District parking lot (near Barnes and Noble) and came into a mall maintenance shop, but there was no damage reported.
Outside the mall, there was damage in the parking lot near the Buffalo Wild Wings where cars were flooded. We saw damage to the concrete and crews roped off the area so people didn't pass through.
