The Vinton Farmer's Market makes some changes to accommodate more customers.
Thanks to a grant through the Foundation for the Roanoke Valley, the farmer's market will now accept SNAP/EBT payments, and customers can even double their money.
Every SNAP purchase will be matched dollar for dollar up to $10.
Customers using the SNAP debit card can buy wooden tokens from the market and spend them like cash at private vendors.
"This is another option for people to purchase healthy foods and to prepare healthy foods for their families," said Special Programs Coordinator Mary Beth Layman. "This is a great program and we are just delighted to be able to roll it out this Saturday."
The Vinton Farmer's Market will be open again this Saturday.
