When JoAnn Michael and her husband turned onto their street Tuesday they were surprised by what they saw. At least two huge oak trees from their backyard had fallen onto their house. Several limbs broke through the roof, making a complete mess of their upstairs bedrooms.
"I just couldn't believe it. I could not believe it," says JoAnn. "But we've had problems like this in this neighborhood before, so I knew it was a reality."
As they're finalizing plans for work on the outside of their house, they have already begun the cleanup process on the inside. They've moved antiques and items of family value to areas of the house where they will not be damaged by more rain. It's damage that their son Jay says came after another scary situation for the family.
"They were not at home, he'd had a stroke so they were at the hospital when this happened," says Jay. "They came back home yesterday afternoon and you can see what they walked into."
Throughout the entire situation, the Michael family has managed to stay positive.
