The judge denied Wellons's request for a $170,000 bond.

Wellons's mother told the judge that was the amount of equity she had in her home, which she was willing to use as surety that Wellons would show up for trial in October.

Prosecutors said Wellons's "whole" blood alcohol level a little over an hour after the crash was a 0.34.

Wellons's BAL was measured at 0.29 about two and a half hours after the crash, and 0.22 more than five hours afterward.

Prosecutors also said they have Wellons on tape buying a bottle of vodka at a Vinton ABC store at 10 a.m. the day of the crash, June 12th.

Prosecutors said a Virginia State Police investigator found a bottle of vodka inside Wellons's car after the crash.  It was about three quarters empty.

Original post:

Timothy Wellons, accused of driving drunk and causing an accident that killed two truck drivers on I-581 last month, will appear in court for a bond hearing.
