Over 50 people arrested in Giles County drug bust

Posted: Updated:

Giles County, VA - Police went knocking on over fifty doors in Giles County this morning to arrest people charged with drug distribution, as well as two meth lab indictments.

Over thirty officers from nine different departments helped with today's bust. Some West Virginia law enforcement officers even helped in their state, arresting people that had committed offenses in Giles County.

The county has been working on this bust since December. The 120 charges from the bust were largely felonies.

Sheriff Morgan Millirons says they've seen a large increase in the number of arrests related to prescription drugs. "It used to be marijuana was an issue and you'd see some cocaine. But the biggest majority, 9 out of 10 of our charges are prescription medications,"says Sheriff Millirons.

Bond hearings will begin on Tuesday for the people that were picked up today.
