Preliminary Estimates Put FloydFest 12 Attendance at 15,500

Preliminary estimates put the attendance for FloydFest 12 at approximately 15,500, according to event staff.

The estimated attendance includes vendors, volunteers, paid staff, musical acts, and, of course, all the people who came to the festival.

FloydFest development director Linda DeVito said heavy rains on Saturday didn't seem to hurt attendance or the bottom line for vendors, meaning most were very happy with business.

"[The rains] just tipped the scales on an already saturated ground," DeVito said.

The conditions made FloydFest 12 the muddiest, and perhaps wettest, in more than a decade, DeVito said.

DeVito said the Floyd County school system, the Floyd County board of supervisors, local sponsors and businesses all worked together to make sure attendees weren't stuck in the mud.

Buses took festival goers from parking lots all the way over at Floyd County High School and other locations so they could avoid muddy farmland parking near the event.
