Randy Taylor, the suspect in the abduction of 17-year-old Alexis Murphy, was in court Tuesday afternoon.
Orange County commonwealth's attorney Diana Wheeler says Taylor has a connection to another missing girl case in the area.
Samantha Clark was 19 when she went missing in 2010. Wheeler confirms Taylor was a suspect in the Clark case. Taylor called Clark five times just hours before she went missing. Clark has never been found.
"As Randy Taylor is someone that Samantha spoke with immediately prior to her disappearance, he remains someone we are very interested in learning more about," Wheeler says.
Taylor's crime sheet dates back more than 20 years to 1992. He was convicted of grand larceny and burglary in Virginia Beach in 1993, and of arson in Albermarle County in 2005.
The Nelson County Sheriff's Office confirms Taylor was caught on the same surveillance video as Murphy at different times at the Liberty Gas Station in Lovingston on Saturday, Aug. 3.
That was the last time Murphy was seen.
Taylor has a court-appointed lawyer, and his next court date is Jan. 9, 2014, at 10 a.m. He is being held without bond at the Albemarle-Charlottesville Regional Jail.
