Judge rules to re-open Randy Taylor bond hearing - FOX 21/27 WFXR Roanoke/WWCW Lynchburg News, Weather

Randy Taylor's bond denied

Posted: Updated:
NELSON COUNTY, VA -

Update 2:48 p.m.

The judge denied Taylor's bond. Taylor's lawyer says there's not enough evidence to warrant bond being denied, while the Nelson County Commonwealth Attorney says 'he is a danger and a flight risk.'

Defense asked to wave the right to preliminary hearing. The judge granted that motion. The case now moves on to a grand jury set for September 26th at 9:30 a.m.

Update 2:00 p.m.

Before the bond hearing, several media groups made an appeal to a Nelson Co. judge to re-open Randy Taylor's bond hearing.

The judge ruled to re-open the bond hearing unless sensitive details need to be discussed that would hurt the investigation.

The media will then need to leave.

Our reporter talked to Trina Murphy, Alexis' aunt, who's worried details that would get out to the press would hurt the investigation.

Update 11:15

Investigators say they are continuing the search for Murphy near Cub Creek in Roseland. The search is near Route 56 near Crabtree Falls. Police are using dogs in the search.
