UPDATE: New Details on Double Fatal Salem Shooting

On Friday, police announced the double fatal shooting in Salem was in fact a murder/suicide.

Investigators say 55-year-old Timmy Hager shot and killed his wife, 51-year-old Bonnie Hager, before turning the gun on himself.

Salem police investigate a deadly shooting.

Officers were called to the 100 block of Ferrum Drive around 4:30 p.m. Thursday.

When police got there, they found one man and one woman, both with gunshot wounds.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene. The woman was taken to Carilion Roanoke Memorial hospital, where she later died.

Police do not believe anyone else was involved in the shooting. The victims' identities have not yet been released.
