Local breweries are pushing for change in Washington.
Members of Congress are considering changing the federal excise tax, which could help brewers nationwide.
Roanoke Railhouse Owner Steve Davidson said it's just one example of how leaders in Richmond and Washington are changing their minds about craft beer.
"We're being recognized at the state level with some changes in the legislature," Davidson said. "[Now] there's consideration at the federal level to recognize that if they help us that we can help the economy."
Virginia Senator Mark Warner said he will consider co-sponsoring a bill in September to change the excise tax to benefit small breweries.
