A groundbreaking ceremony was held in Roanoke Tuesday to celebrate the development of a new hotel.
Once finished, the Hilton Garden Inn is expected to create 40 new jobs and take up 80,000 square feet.
It's part of the South Peak development project that includes condominiums, homes, retail shopping, and much more.
The Hilton development team actually looked at the location before, but because of the tough economy a few years ago, they had to put it on hold.
Now they say they're excited to be part of the growth around the county.
"I think what you're seeing now is some of that economic indicators starting to turn around for certain areas, and this looks like to be a right time to get a project done," said John Koshivos with the Hilton development group.
Right now, the plan is that the hotel will be up and running anywhere from 12-18 months from now.
