A partnership between Roanoke City and Google could provide a big boost for plenty of small businesses.
The online giant is expanding its program to provide domain names and web hosting for small businesses for one year for free.
Roanoke Mayor David Bowers said the city will act as a facilitator to make sure local businesses continue to grow.
"We need to make sure Roanoke businesses are on that Google search," Bowers said. "It's going to be helpful to Roanoke. We're always glad to have these firms take an interest in Roanoke."
Since 2011, the program has helped 135,000 businesses nationwide get established online.
