The Henry County Sheriff's Office is warning people of several phone call scams they've seen lately.
In one of the scams, people who claim to be agents of the U.S. Marshals service tell the victim they have missed a court appearance. The scammers tell their victims if they give money in the form of gift cards, they can avoid indictment.
The second scam targets people who are not U.S. citizens and makes similar claims."We never ask for gift cards or money grants or anything like that. We never ask for stuff like that," said investigator Compton. "That should be a red flag. That's not the correct way law enforcement receives payments for fines or anything like that."
If you are contacted by one of these scams, call police.
