On Wednesday, community members met to discuss the future of the Star City.
It was the second in a series of public input meetings, hosted by Downtown Roanoke Inc.
The goal is to discuss a new vision of downtown Roanoke. In past projects like this, topics included downtown living and restoring city buildings.
"We're now looking at how do we make downtown speak on behalf of the citizens as a symbol for the region and the community," said Price Gutshall, the vice president of economic development at DRI. "How do we have the downtown reflect that, the values and vision of this community?"
The next public meeting will be on Oct. 17, at 6 p.m. at the Virginia Museum of Transportation.
