A Roanoke County Supervisor candidate is defending his past after someone anonymously released information.

Hollins District candidate Brian Lang (D) held a news conference Monday morning to answer the anonymous records relating to his past, calling some of them deceptive.

Among other things, Lang is listed as being charged with misdemeanor assault, which he denies.

We checked the facts in the court records and found Lang is listed as the plaintiff in the case and was not charged.

The anonymous record also listed some tax issues and several speeding tickets.

"I expect that when it's investigated we will find out who did it and they will frankly be ashamed of it," Lang said. "I'm not proud of the things I've done wrong, but I have not distributed negative campaign literature without any disclaimer."

Lang is filing a complaint with the State Board of Elections and the Roanoke County Commonwealth's Attorney.
