A Bedford County gun store is expanding within a year of opening. The new store is on Route 24 outside of Vinton and is six times larger than its previous location.
"It was kind of small and a little bit cramped, but this is much better," says Timothy Morris, a Goodview resident.
Morris is one of the people who came in for the grand opening.
Safe Side Tactical has a type 07 manufacturing license, which is one of the reasons why they've continued to attract customers. Customers can pick the parts to build their custom weapon.
Safe Side Tactical continues to develop its own line of weapons and is working to sell them to local law enforcement. Matthew Tyler, vice president of development, says he's excited to see the potential of what this company could be.
"We now have the space to act on ideas, things we've been wanting to do," Tyler says.
The space also comes with a larger display case that showcases weapons such as a rare machine gun from Vietnam.
Safe Side Tactical is a family-run company. In the expansion they've also hired five people.
