Christiansburg police say officers found the remains of a child wrapped in a bag and hidden in a closet in a home this past weekend. Search warrants show the investigation started when a woman went to Lewis Gale Hospital Montgomery on Friday complaining of fatigue and blood loss.
She had surgery, but afterwards doctors told police the bleeding was caused by giving birth. The woman denied being pregnant or having a baby.
But police then searched her Christiansburg home and found the infant's remains.
Investigators are calling this case suspicious and say it's not clear if foul play was involved. So far, no arrests have been made.
Search warrants do list the woman's name, but we have decided not to release it, since she has not been charged.
