Students at North Cross School are raising money to help Mill Mountain Zoo.
We previously reported that the zoo is trying to get more people to come after a rainy summer affected attendance.
On Oct. 30, the whole school will hike on trails on the mountain. Each student will ask for donations for their hike. The school is giving 20 percent of its funds up to $5,000.
Not only will it be helping the zoo but it'll also give students a chance to appreciate nature.
"You can't appreciate what you don't know," says Sara Brooks with Mill Mountain Zoo. "For the kids to actually see the animals and understand what's going on with them in the world it'll make them better citizens."
