Get over your fears with the Big Air Bag Drop this weekend at the GO Outside Festival. No, you won't hit the ground like a bag of wet cement. In fact, you'll feel like Colt Seavers himself as you plummet toward the ground from high atop a scissor-lift. There is so much going on, including the Ultimate Air dog show, professional mountain bike demonstrations, plus live music and plenty of vendors and an outdoor gear yard sale. RoanokeGoFest.com is the website and it's going on all weekend at the River's Edge Sports Complex.
Here's a movie I am embarrassed to say I've never seen, and now I have no excuse. A free screening of Gone With The Wind is happening at the Lyric Theatre Saturday starting at 1 p.m. This is courtesy of the Virginia Center for Civil War Studies and includes a look at the historical significance of this film that I have never seen, even though I have watched the South Park movie about a dozen times and I still laugh every time.
Put down that bowl of candy corn and go on a ghost tour Saturday. There are two that I know of: Ghosts and More in Rocky Mount with the Franklin County Historical Society. It leaves Main Street in a vintage tour bus when the sun goes down, and The Salem Museum Ghost Walk which features a trip through the East Hill Cemeteries. Both tours start Saturday evening at 6:30.
