Thanks to a state audit, some 911 call centers in Virginia are getting more money.
A study by the Virginia Information Technologies Agency found several emergency centers were not getting the proper amount of money based on call volume from 2010-2012.
Salem received more than $36,000 from the Commonwealth to make up for the shortfall. For Danville, it's a windfall of nearly $200,000.
But most communities saw the other end of the audit: Bedford, Franklin, and Montgomery counties lost between $4,000 and $7,000 in future money, a relatively small amount. Roanoke City and Roanoke County each lost nearly $60,000.
The good news is the money can be spread over three years.
Roanoke City's E-911 Manager Mike Crockett said the drop in future money won't have any impact on services or responses.
