The Montgomery County Christmas Store will be open Tuesdays and Saturdays to accept donations for the upcoming holiday season.
The non-profit will make celebrating Christmas a reality for over 1,500 families this year, providing gifts to many different people in need in Montgomery County.
Low-income parents are eligible to shop for their children. Some seniors and adults with disabilities are also eligible to shop.
The store's fundraising goals is set at $214,000 this year. The organization has not reached that goal yet, but organizers are hopeful donations will increase as Christmas gets closer.
In order to shop at the Christmas Store, every applicant must have an income that is no greater than 125 percent of the federal established poverty level (in other words, eligible shoppers can earn 25 percent above the poverty level) and be a Montgomery County resident.
Applicants must also be 62 years of age or older; receive some type of disability; have children 17 years of age or younger (children age 18 and 19 must still be in high school); or have emergency circumstances.
