The new Blue Ridge Cancer Care dedication ceremony brings community leaders together in the New River Valley. The new center is a partnership between B.R.C.C. and LewisGale Montgomery Hospital.
The center has been open for eight days. In a little more than a week, doctors have seen nearly 650 patients.
Ovarian cancer patient Sarah Parsell lives in Dublin. She says having this center in Montgomery County will make a huge difference for patients.
"It has been great having this close," Parsell said. "These people here are fantastic. I don't think anywhere you could [go] they would treat you any better than they do right here."
"In the past, people had to travel hours to get to a good oncology center or university, places like that," said B.R.C.C. oncologist Dr. Harry McCoy. "Today we offer the same services that most universities offer right here in the community. There is very little we can't do or treat at this center."
