BATH COUNTY -

State Police say the autopsy of Bath County State Senator Creigh Deeds' son Austin "Gus" Deeds revealed that he died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

The Medical Examiner's Office in Roanoke determined that the gunshot came from a rifle.

Also, the Bath County Sheriff's Office confirmed that prior to Monday, it had not received a 911 nor a non-emergency call from the Deeds' home.  On Tuesday, Bath County Sheriff Robert Plecker told WSLS that his office got a non-emergency call from the Deeds' home, and that deputies responded.  Sheriff Plecker would not say what the call was for.
