On Wednesday, Roanoke and Vinton leaders heard from the public about potential uses for the old Roland E. Cook school building.
The building is currently zoned for only school or residential use.
Town leaders wanted to get the public's input on what to do with the building. Many suggestions came out of the meeting, such as turning it into a retirement community or a private school.
But many concerns came out as well, such as not using the building for low-income housing.
Town leaders say they have shown the building already to almost a dozen private users, but no one has decided to purchase the property.
