Multi-House fire displaces Roanoke family

Two neighboring homes are severely damaged after fire swept through both floors. 

It happened just before 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. The fire initially started at 530 Marshall Avenue SW in Roanoke City. High wind gusts carried the flames to the neighboring home.

The family tells WSLS that one man was in the house at the time of the fire, but was safely able to escape the burning house along with his dogs.

The family living in the home will now be displaced.

Two homes surrounding the burnt houses suffered minor damage from smoke and heat.

At this time the cause of the fire is unknown.
