The tree lighting and a holiday laser light show kick off the 2013 Dickens Of A Christmas in downtown Roanoke tonight. Roanoke's Children's Theatre will perform at 5:30 with the tree lighting slated for 6:20 p.m. Directly following will be the Southwest Virginia Ballet at 6:30 p.m. and dancers from Miss Mona's School of Dance and Performing Arts at 7:00 p.m. Dickens Of A Christmas festivities to be held tonight at Wells Fargo Plaza on Salem Avenue, and it continues on Friday's through the season.
This Sunday will mark 33 years ago that John Lennon was shot and killed in New York City. Yoko Ono Imagine Peace is wrapping up a run at the Taubman in January, but why not check it out this weekend? The exhibition focuses on the thematic ideals of peace and love featuring the works of Yoko Ono and John Lennon chronologically as solo artists and as a couple in the 1960s.
And who doesn't love a parade? I know I have frozen my tuckus off on parade floats a time or two. Salem's 57th annual Christmas Parade is tonight starting at 6:30 as a prelude to tomorrow's Gingerbread Festival and Ye Olde Salem Christmas. The Lexington Christmas Parade is also tonight and Fincastle gets an early afternoon start tomorrow with their parade at 2 and Craig County is tomorrow night starting at 6.
