ROANOKE, VA -

The winter weather storm is moving through southwest Virginia.

From Rockbridge County: VA State Police & VDOT are reporting road conditions are deteriorating fast in the area. Please stay off of the roads. The 911 center is unable to process NON-EMERGENCY power, phone and cable outages.

Other areas like Roanoke and the New River Valley are dry right now, but expect that to change as we head later into the day.

As of 11:15 a.m. there are a couple flights canceled from Roanoke Regional Airport. Check your flight status before heading to the airport.

This storm is not over! As of 11:15 a.m. areas east of the parkway and up towards the Highlands are still dealing with freezing rain and sleet. Many of us -- Roanoke and NRV are in a dry slot right now, through early to mid afternoon and then widespread freezing rain arrives.

WSLS is breaking into regular programming with team coverage throughout the day.
