Strong winds, snow for some

A High Wind Warning is in effect from 9 p.m. Thursday to noon Friday for the New River and Roanoke Valleys and the Highlands.  Wind gusts to 55 mph will be possible.  The stronger winds will be at the higher elevations with slightly lighter gusts in the valleys.

A Wind Advisory is in effect from 9 p.m. Thursday to noon Friday for the Shenandoah Valley and areas east of the Blue Ridge.  Wind gusts to 45 mph are possible.

These winds will push cold air into the region.  For Friday morning it will feel like -5 to 10 when factoring the temperature and wind together.

A Winter Storm Warning is in for Grayson County from 4 p.m. Thursday to 7 a.m. Friday.  A Winter Storm Warning is in effect for Greenbrier, Pocahontas and Tazewell Counties from 4 p.m. Thursday to noon Friday.  Rain will change to snow late this afternoon and continue into the morning hours on Friday.  Accumulations of one to five inches is expected.  Higher totals will fall for the mountain tops with lower amounts as you get lower in elevation.
