Restaurant week kicks off in Downtown Roanoke today. The event features 25 restaurants in all, including seven new spots. Blue's BBQ is one restaurant that missed out last year but is excited to be in the mix this week. General Manager, Karen Wright, hopes to see higher sales during the event.
However, the bigger goal is to make people want to come back.
She says, "We are hoping that they try something they haven't tried before and that they are going to love it and it's going to make them want to keep coming back."
Last year, many participating restaurants saw increases in sales. Frankie Rowland's Steakhouse saw a ten percent increase.
Local restaurants say the extra boost is helpful as sales in January tend to dip due to the weather and people wanting to save money after the holidays.
The event starts today and runs through January 26. Meal prices range from $10 to $30. Click here for a full list of restaurants and menus.
