Downtown business owners prepare for busiest day of the year

Posted: Updated:
Roanoke city is preparing for tens of thousands of people Saturday for the Saint Patrick's day parade and festival.

Last years crowd drew in record breaking numbers.

Downtown businesses tell WSLS it’s one of the biggest events of the year in the city.

Bayou Snowballs is one of many businesses busy preparing Friday, decorating in green streamers and shamrocks. They’ve even gotten hundreds of green party favors to give out to customers.

They tell us this is their most profitable day of the year. Last year they had more than 600 customers in one day.

Crystal Bolton, the owner says they are expecting great numbers especially because of the warm weather.

“Tomorrow is going to be its pretty amazing. It's a really busy day and truly for us i can speak its our busiest day of the year so we are really excited.”

The parade starts downtown Saturday morning at 11 a.m.

This year's shamrock festival will feature music from local and regional talent at wells fargo's plaza at the corner of market street and Salem avenue.
