Police say Lynchburg man stabbed inside a home

LYNCHBURG, VA - Lynchburg Police are investigating after a man went to Lynchburg General Hospital's Emergency Room with stab wounds.

On Saturday around 6:30 a.m. police were called to the hospital.

Michael Payne, 33 from Lynchburg, had with several stab wounds to his chest and stomach. 

Payne told officers was visiting a friend in the 1200 block of Peirce Street when he was attacked and stabbed by Jamel Owen Davis, 29 from Lynchburg man.  Payne was admitted to the hospital and is in stable condition.

Police say witnesses at the scene said Davis got into the house through a downstairs window, ran upstairs, confronted, and attacked Payne in an upstairs bedroom. 

Police say after leaving the scene, Davis was found and arrested for malicious wounding.
